PMMC Club Night – Monday 10th August 2026. Guest Speaker – Paul South
The PMMC monthly club night meeting at The Inn on the Lake – Silvermere. Come along and have a chat with fellow club members. Share updates on your latest projects, and activities. If you are early enough a sail on the lake is possible for smooth keel yachts and anything with a prop along the front of the island, but it does not extend very far out.

Club Night – July 13th 2026
Our monthly club meeting. A chance to enjoy an evening sailing on the lake. Share updates on your latest projects, and activities with fellow members. Then later in the club house Peter Shires will be talking about his Marine Craft boat.
Please note:
Weed is causing a problem in some areas of the lake. So sailing deep keel yachts is a risk, but smooth hull yachts like moonbeams, Robbe Atlantis may be OK. Scale boats electric/steam are best sailed in the area immediately (up to 5 metres out) in front of the island where most of the weed has been cleared.

It was fun with not too many collisions, and also avoidance of the other boats on the water made it a bit more interesting.
We will have to try again on another spare day when and if the weed lets us.🤞

Dear Skippers
I’m pleased to report that the weed has gone and the water level at the Getty is 17 inches. Today the 5th November 5 Victoria and DF65 yachts tested the lake and all skippers reported all was good for sailing.
At 17 inches it is about deep enough for IOM yachts. However we plan to arrange a Small Boat series using Victoria’s and DF 65 yachts in the near future.
Some good news at last.

Egham Royal Show – Report and Pictures
What a great weekend we have just had – good company, lots of boating chat, boat queries solved and great weather (if a little too hot at times).
I must say a big ‘Thank You’ to club members who collectively brought about 20 boats: Martin, Dave and David, Richard, Phil and Connor, John and Derrick. However, the biggest ‘Thank You’ must go to Jackie, who is the Egham Royal Show Secretary, for her excellent organisation and support.
Attached are some photos taken in the model marquee. A couple of general shots of our stand. One of St Nectan, owned by Derrick which won ‘The Best Model in the Show’. Also, one of Martin with Gio in a buggy. Gio is a founder (and current) member of PMMC and at 94, he still has an active interest in the club and boat modelling.
Thanks

Our monthly club meeting. Come along and have a chat with fellow club members. Share updates on your latest projects, and activities. From 7.30pm onwards, or earlier if you have time. Weather and weed permitting we will enjoy and evening sailing on the lake.
Latest on the weed situation.
Thanks to regular clearing there is a small area along the foreshore and about 8 metres out that is almost weed free, so ideal for scale electric/steam.
Smooth keeled yachts should also be OK using the rest of the lake. Unfortunately anything with a drop keel will catch the weed and it would not be advisable to sail this type of yacht.

Postponed! – PMMC Open Day – August 6th 2025.
Due to the amount of weed in large areas of the lake, it has been decided to postpone the ‘PMMC Open Day’, until sometime in October when conditions should be more favourable. We will advise the actual dates once the committee has discussed at the next meeting.
However as it is a normal sailing day, for members who want to use the lake it is still possible for certain types of model boats, such as smooth keeled yachts, and and in the cleared area (front of the island) scale electric/steam.Published on:
