Membership
Our club members are of all abilities and have both sail and scale models. For the yacht enthusiast we have a regular race calendar for IOM and Victoria classes. Informal racing takes place on most sail days and provides a fun and enjoyable way to meet other club members. Navigation and navy days are organised for our scale model sailors.
- CLUB MEMBERSHIP COSTS £15 (£30 from 1st January 2023) PER YEAR.
- MEMBERSHIP FEE INCLUDES CLUB ‘PUBLIC LIABILITY’ ONLY INSURANCE
- JUNIOR AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP COSTS £5 PER YEAR
Our sail area is safe, sheltered and secure. We have a jetty which provides easy launching and recovery.
An added appeal of our club is the public restaurant with hot food and toilet facilities. There is also car parking within easy reach of our sailing area. If the weather is bad then members will meet in the restaurant for coffee and a chat.
We have a rescue boat in attendance on event and sailing days. This also lays out the buoys for our racing course.
We offer a friendly welcome to visitors and look forward to seeing you at our club. Please contact one of us if you wish to visit or know more.
Meetings
Regular days for sailing are: Winter: October – March: WEDNESDAY AND SUNDAY from 10:30. Also FRIDAY (by arrangement) from 11:00
We may also use the lake seven days a week provided two people are present during sailing for safety reasons.
Summer: March – September MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY
Please note. During Summer March – September Thursday to Sunday, the island terrace bar area is used for customers and is not available to PMMC members after 10.30 in the morning. This allows time for the staff to prepare tables and the area for diners.
All sailing days may be subject to change or cancellation due to water level, weed or Silvermere functions.

PMMC Rule Book and Constitution
Please click here to see a PDF file containing a copy of the PMMC Rule Book and Constitution (2023), updated to reflect the changes agreed at the last Annual General Meeting.
The order of the pages is a bit strange because the file is designed for two-sided or duplex printing on A4 paper to create an A5 booklet. If you’re going to use automatic duplex printing you may need to check your printer settings as the file requires “short-side binding” or some alternatively-named but equivalent setting to be selected in order to print properly.
Please note, you can find information on the MYA ‘rules of racing’ at this [page]
Safety
We can use the lake seven days a week. Two people must always be present during sailing. This is for your safety. The provided first aid kit, flotation device and other safety equipment must be in place during all sailing activities. The jetty may become slippery during sailing days or as a result of weather conditions. Take care!
Use the handrails and wear suitable footwear.
Be aware of what others around you are doing. Only one person should launch at any time. The lake is unsuitable for I.C and fast electrics so their use is not permitted.
All members have a responsibility to be aware of the club’s safety instructions. Phoenix Marine Model Club will not be held liable for any incident arising from the inappropriate actions of members or incorrect use of equipment.
Do not disturb or distress the wildlife observed on or around the lake.
